WHAT THE ENGLISH LEARNER ADVISORY Committee (ELAC) DOES
The purpose of the ELAC is to provide parents of English Learners opportunities to:
•Learn more about the programs offered to their children.
•Participate in the schools’ needs assessment of students, parents and teachers.
•Provide input to the principal and school staff of the most positive and effective strategies for teaching English Learners.
•Provide input on the most effective ways to support full participation of English Learners in all school activities.
•Provide input on the most effective ways to ensure regular school attendance.
•Have representation at the district level by the attendance of elected officials at the District English Language Advisory Council (DELAC) meetings.

QUÉ HACE EL COMITÉ ASESOR DE ESTUDIANTES DE INGLÉS (ELAC)
El propósito del ELAC es brindarles a los padres de estudiantes de inglés oportunidades para:
- Conocer más sobre los programas que se ofrecen a sus hijos.
- Participar en la evaluación de las necesidades de las escuelas de los estudiantes, padres y maestros.
- Brindar información al director y al personal escolar sobre las estrategias más positivas y efectivas para enseñar a los estudiantes de inglés.
- Brindar información sobre las formas más efectivas de apoyar la participación total de los estudiantes de inglés en todas las actividades escolares.
- Brindar información sobre las formas más efectivas de garantizar la asistencia regular a la escuela.
- Tener representación a nivel de distrito mediante la asistencia de funcionarios electos a las reuniones del Consejo Asesor Distrital del Idioma Inglés (DELAC).
